FORÊT MORTE (Still Forest)

En 2011, Anne-Marie Giroux entreprend les projets SI UN ARBRE J’ÉTAIS et FORÊT MORTE. Grandement inspirée par la forêt abitibienne (nord du Québec), elle propose des œuvres en deux et trois dimensions élaborées à partir de médiums traditionnels ainsi qu'à partir de matériaux issus de la récupération. Avec la série FORÊT MORTE, l’artiste propose une série de natures mortes, composée de sylves peintes, de vestiges de la forêt abitibienne et de d’objets trouvés dans la rue. FORÊT MORTE évoque davantage l’idée de la potentielle vulnérabilité de la forêt : comme une énorme présence qui pourrait toutefois un jour se fragiliser, voire complètement disparaître.

FORÊT MORTE tend vers ce qui a déjà vécu, ce qui a déjà existé.

In 2011, Giroux undertook the projects SI UN ARBRE J’ÉTAIS and FORÊT MORTE. Greatly inspired by the Abitibi forest in northern Québec, she created works in two and three dimensions developed from traditional mediums, as well as from recycled materials.  In the series FORÊT MORTE, the artist presents a series of still life, composed of painted forests, remnants of the Abitibi woods and objects found on the street. FORÊT MORTE evokes more the idea of the potential vulnerability of the forest: a powerful presence that could someday be weakened or completely disappear. FORÊT MORTE tends toward what has already lived, already existed.
